Steve has practiced law since 1982, and in 1988 he drafted his first trust for a woman who unfortunately died of cancer just a few months later. In a relatively short time, Steve experienced the many benefits of a properly designed and drafted estate plan, and ever since he has helped individuals, couples and families to design and implement estate and business succession plans to achieve their objectives and goals.
In 1996, after assisting more and more clients in Blended Families, Steve teamed up with his friend and behavioral scientist, F. Scott Reyburn, LMSW, LMFT, PhD. and they began to study, write and speak about Estate Planning for Blended Families. From their efforts, Steve developed a process to help him guide his Blended Family clients.
Steve is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan, the Grand Rapids Bar Association, and a former director of the West Michigan Estate Planning Council. He is a frequent speaker on business and estate planning topics.
